More nuggets:
- Gardy says Torii is day-to-day after he bent back his left thumbnail while sliding into base during Wednesday's game. Torii told the Pioneer Press the minor injury will not hold him back. He's not playing today because he wasn't scheduled to.
- What little shot 1B/DH Ken Harvey had of making the team took a big hit Wednesday night. Gardy reports that Harvey pulled a chest muscle while swinging the bat in the G'fruit League opener and could be out 3-5 days or longer.
- News flash: Anna Nicole Smith died.
- Few faint boos -- and I stress faint -- from the Legends Field crowd when MVP came to bat for the first time in the second inning. Still three people bitter about little market guy beating out Jeter.

Ouch Mr. Harvey. What did we tell you about swinging bats.
Jason, Why be so disrespectful of the deceased?? That was not even called for!
Also you show your lack of baseball knowledge when you say Ponson is alreay going to get cut. Terry will wait for him as he is on a no risk deal. Think about it Jason, Ponson could be a steal, why so quick with the trigger?
Dewey,
I didn't say Ponson was going to get released today or even next week. They'll give him as fair a shake as possible. But he put himself in a bind. There is a reason why only one other team showed interest in this guy over the winter.

How many teams in the league have a pitching coach named Rick Anderson?
Speaking of Harvey...do you think with Ford's injury, that he, Garrett Jones or LeCroy could make the team to give them some "power" off the bench? It looks like Cirillo, Machado, Redmond and especially Tyner lack that possibility of a 9th inning game tying HR.
I think if Ford is out for an extended period of time, his spot will be taken by Durbin so the Twins can then keep Tyner or somebody else on the roster.
