Mauer being treated for fibula tenderness

Joe Mauer had an magnetic resonance imaging exam today after experiencing tenderness in his left fibula. The MRI showed a stress reaction, a precursor to a stress fracture.

Mauer will be treated with a bone stimulator and physical therapy before being re-evaluated Sunday.

Twins general manager Terry Ryan said Mauer likely will be out four to five days.
